Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) and exhaust system problems are among the most common issues we see on modern Citroën diesel vehicles at GSR Garage in Telford. These systems are designed to reduce emissions but can cause significant problems if not properly maintained. The most common Citroën DPF issue is timing belt degradation on PureTech petrol engines. This typically happens when vehicles are used primarily for short journeys in urban areas like Telford, Birmingham, and Telford, where the engine does not get hot enough to trigger passive regeneration. Signs of DPF blockage include reduced engine performance, increased fuel consumption, and the DPF warning light appearing on the dashboard. EGR valve clogging on diesel engines is another frequent exhaust system problem on Citroën diesel models. Symptoms include warning messages on the dashboard, reduced engine power, and in some cases, the vehicle may refuse to restart if the AdBlue level runs too low or the system detects a fault.
