Keeping your Kia's cooling system in good condition is essential for preventing engine damage. At GSR Garage in Telford, we regularly service and repair cooling systems on all Kia models. Overheating can be caused by several factors. steering coupler failure causing play in steering is a common culprit on higher-mileage Kia vehicles. DCT gearbox judder during low-speed manoeuvres can also cause overheating, particularly when the coolant level drops too low. We always perform a full cooling system pressure test when diagnosing overheating problems. Coolant should be replaced according to the manufacturer's schedule, typically every 3-5 years. Using the correct type of coolant is crucial for Kia engines — the wrong specification can cause internal corrosion and blockage. The coolant expansion tank should also be inspected for cracks, as plastic tanks become brittle with age. For commercial Kia vans, cooling system maintenance is especially important. Vehicles operating under heavy loads or in stop-start traffic in urban areas generate more heat, putting additional stress on the cooling system. Regular coolant checks and timely water pump replacement can prevent roadside breakdowns. We serve Kia owners across Telford, Birmingham, Dudley, West Bromwich, Cannock, Lichfield, and the wider Shropshire area.
